Manufacturers measure range in ideal conditions. This calculator estimates the real-world range with the NovoDix method (Wh/km consumption adjusted for weight, terrain, assist level and temperature), the cost of each charge and your yearly saving versus a car. Free, runs in your browser.

Estimated real-world range:

Consumption: · Cost of a full charge: · Cost per 100 km:

Yearly saving vs a car: (petrol car at €0.12/km in fuel, 220 days)

How we calculate real-world range

We start from typical real-world consumption: an e-bike uses 7–14 Wh per km depending on assist, an electric scooter 12–20 Wh/km. We then adjust for weight (each kilo above 75 kg adds about 0.8 %), terrain (up to +45 % on hilly routes) and cold (lithium batteries deliver up to 25 % less below 5 °C). We use 90 % of the capacity, because the controller cuts out before the battery is fully empty.

FAQ

How far does an electric bike really go?

With a 500 Wh battery, 35–65 km depending on assist, weight and terrain. Quick rule: Wh ÷ 10 = km in mixed use.

How much does it cost to charge an e-bike?

A full 500 Wh charge costs about 9 cents at €0.15/kWh: under 25 cents per 100 km.

How much does it cost to charge an electric scooter?

A 450 Wh scooter costs about 8 cents per full charge; under 40 cents per 100 km.

Does cold weather reduce range?

Yes. Below 5 °C the battery can deliver up to 25 % less. Store it indoors and charge it at room temperature.

How do I convert volts and amp-hours to Wh?

Multiply: 36 V × 10 Ah = 360 Wh; 48 V × 15 Ah = 720 Wh.
