Electric fat bikes use tyres about 4 inches wide. Those fat tyres work almost like suspension: they absorb bumps, grip on sand, gravel and loose dirt, and give a lot of stability. In return, they weigh more and have more rolling resistance on tarmac.
Pros and cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Comfort on broken surfaces and trails | Weight of 30–40 kg |
| Grip on sand, mud and gravel | Higher consumption: fewer km per Wh |
| Stability, good for beginners | Bulkier and harder to park |
| Rugged looks | More expensive tyres |
20 or 26 inches?
20 × 4": more compact, many fold and they suit both city and trails. 26 × 4": they roll better at speed, clear obstacles more easily and are more comfortable for tall riders and long rides.

Prices are indicative at the time of publication (September 2026); the current price is shown on each product page. "Estimated real-world range" is NovoDix's own calculation: we divide the battery capacity by a consumption of 10–14 Wh/km, typical for mixed use with medium assistance, an adult weighing 75–85 kg and terrain with some hills. The figure claimed by the manufacturer is measured under ideal conditions.
On a fat bike, consumption tends towards the high end of the range (13–14 Wh/km) because of tyre friction.

Frequently asked questions
What is an electric fat bike for?
For riding comfortably on trails, sand, gravel or poorly maintained streets. Its 4-inch tyres soak up irregularities and give plenty of grip.
Is an electric fat bike good for the city?
It works, and it is very comfortable on cobblestones and potholes, but it weighs more and uses a bit more energy than a city bike. For pure city riding and limited space, a 20" folding bike is more practical.
How much does an electric fat bike weigh?
Usually between 30 and 40 kg, depending on wheel size and battery.
